Every summer we rent a site at Avalon Campground http://www.avaloncampground.com/ in Avalon New Jersey. (Our place at the shore). We’ve been going there since 2003, and “camping” in the trailer that you see in the picture. It’s been our summer getaway place, and as such, we’ve taken very good care of it. We’ve been parked at the same site all this time, and have a simple deck, a gazebo and a shed. I put “camping” in quotes because we’re not talking about roughing it by any stretch of the imagination. The trailer is 37 feet long, heated, air conditioned, has cable TV, a microwave, a gas stove and oven, refrigerator/freezer and cd/radio indoors and out. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, the back bedroom has 3 bunks. There is a sofa that pulls out into a queen sized bed, and the kitchen table converts to a bed, so it can sleep 8 people. In addition, there is a comfortable recliner, so it could conceivably sleep 9. The living room/dining area is a slide out, making the living area 3 or 4 feet wider than the bedrooms.
We’re hoping to sell it within the next 10 days, because then it wouldn’t need to be moved off site. We are asking $10,000.00 for it, ($500 UNDER book value), and that would include the deck, the gazebo and the shed. (That can only happen, though, if the trailer can remain on site.)
So, here is some information about the campground, which, by the way is a lovely place. Avalon Campground charges $4100.00 for a seasonal site…for $4100.00 you can go to the beach ANY TIME you want from April through October. The campground itself is wooded, and has a small store, a laundromat, 2 swimming pools, a small mini golf course, a playground, and a large building that you can use for events you may plan…say a family reunion or birthday party or something. Cable TV and internet are available. You can shower in the trailer, or there are several bath houses around the grounds. There are regular hayrides for the kids, and events throughout the summer if you’re inclined to participate. There is a guard at the entrance, making it a safe and secure campground.
The beach is a 10 minute drive onto 7 Mile Island, and tags are interchangeable between Avalon and Stone Harbor, the two towns on the island. Tags last year were $22 for a season tag, but if you by them through the campground before the end of May they can get them for $17. It’s the best of both worlds….camping in the woods, 10 minutes from the beach.
As I said, the trailer has been parked in the same spot for 9 years, so I cannot vouch for the condition of the tires. Therefore, if you’re planning to pull the trailer the price is only $8500. (Unfortunately the deck, shed and gazebo cannot be included in that case.) Personally, I wouldn’t want to pull a 37 foot trailer, but maybe you’re braver than me. :0)
We have taken excellent care of this vehicle, so, although these pictures were taken when it was brand new, it still looks pretty much the same. We will be at the campground this weekend, Friday April 12 through Sunday April 14, if you’d care to come take a look, or, the camp ground management could take you through it any time.
By the way, we’re not leaving the campground…just moving into a park model one street back. We can be reached at 610-216-8051 or 610-216-8056, or by email at doremi9642@aol.com or stephenr414@gmail.com
